PROJECTS OF NIS PALILULA MUNICIPALITY CONNECTS THE CITIZENS OF TWO COUNTRIES

Successful cooperation of Nis Palilula Municipality with Bulgarian cities in the course of realization the programme of cross board cooperation and introduction with the new municipal authorities were the meeting topics during the first encounter of the president of Palilula Municipality Boban Dzunic with the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria His Excellency Angel Dimitrov and general consul of Bulgaria in Nis Atanas V. Krastin, organized in this organization of local self government of the City of Nis. Neighborhood programmes, as new instrument of European Union, are directed to promotion and giving support to cross - border cooperation to reduction of still present differences on the level of development between the regions to outer borders of European Union and towards the improvement of the contacts between local communities in strengthening cultural, social and economical cooperation. We, in Palilula Municipality, have recognized this as a possibility of promotion of our potentials and cooperation with the partners in the region – emphasized in his welcome speech Boban Dzunic, president of the Municipality. During the last five years we have realized the significant projects with Bulgarian cities Svoge, Custendil, Bobov Dol, Botevgrad, Plovdiv, Pernik and with the support of EU and LEDIB programme.
His Excellency Angel Dimitrov, the ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in Belgrade thanked the authorities of the Municipality on the warm welcome. He emphasized the role of the local organs of authorities in the development of good neighborhood relations and successful economical and trade development of Serbia and Bulgaria.
We have started the cooperation with the project `Raising the level of information flow and communication between the border region through the establishment of "Evrobalkan`` with Svoge Municipality that is our twin municipality – said the president of Palilula. In the partnership with Custendil Municipality successfully was realized the project Strengthening of Municipal capacities for improvement of life quality of social vulnerable group` from programmes of SKGO – Exchange 3. With the support of LEDIB programmes of 15 our entrepreneurs participated at the International fair of technique in Plovdiv thanks to the project Establishing of synergic dialogue between Serbian and Bulgarian entrepreneurs/SME and professional organization so that the sustainable exchange of experiences could be established. Palilula Municipality, in cooperation with Regional center for development of small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship – Nis and Regional business center for small and medium enterprises in Pernik (Регионален бизнес център за подпомагане на малки и средни предприятия – Перник), promoted the project results of `Doing business with EU`.
Until the end of this year two projects will be also completed. According to the words of president Dzunic, project Coul-Tour ` Cooperation for sustainable development of cultural tourism in Municipalities Bobov Dol and Palilula` will promote the development of cultural tourism in cross- border region over the improvement and modernization of infrastructure within the cultural – historical inheritance in Bobov Dol and Palilula with the construction of the amphitheatre in Bobov Dol and reconstruction of amphitheatre of Memorial Park Bubanj, as well as increasing the cultural exchange between two municipalities. On this occasion the guidebook, that presented cultural and tourist attractions of both municipalities, was published. Within MODERNSPORT project, that is being realized with Botevgrad Municipality volleyball, basketball, handball, tennis court, jogging track, cross jump, athletics track will be constructed on the surface of 4,400m2 in the attached school of `Kralj Petar Prvi` in Pasi Poljana village.
At the territory of Palilula Municipality among many monuments the significant position belongs to Memorial Ossuary built in 1948 where 2,500 Bulgarian soldiers, who died in the finishing war operations against Germans, at the territory of former SFRJ were buried. The Institute for cultural monument protection in Nis with the support of the City and Palilula Municipality in 2005 constructed the project of restoration and conservation of memorial spot. Some of the works already in that period were completed on the basis of international agreement – said Boban Dzunic.
The Ambassador of Republic of Bulgaria Angel Dimitrov expressed his satisfaction why this initiative was started that overcomes the local limits and represents good sign of improvement of international neighborhood cooperation with the objectives to which we long to in our region. He praised the initiative of Palilula Municipality and expressed the readiness and support of the Embassy and Consulate in project activities of Palilula Municipality that are being realized with Bulgarian partners. At the meeting it was also concluded that the best solution will be searched that this monument can get the importance that it deserves and that it will be done by the completion of its reconstruction by setting fence and fulfilling other demands that were defined by project and project conditions of new boulevard `Dimitrije Tucovica`. It is expected that this project will be supported by authorized ministries in the Governments of Bulgaria and Serbia as well as donors.
At the meeting there were also words about the other activities like the realization of new projects with municipalities Ihtiman and Svoge in 2013 are, inclusion into European net of cities and municipalities with connection of traders from Bulgaria and Serbia and realization of other projects from the programme of World Bank and EU.
